Michael began shooting NRA pistol events in 1994 after he was asked to join a local pistol team. He competed for several years at local clubs throughout Wisconsin. After taking a break from the sport, he picked it back up in 2009 at the Phoenix Rod & Gun Club where he met pistol Olympians Brenda Silva and Ruby Fox who encouraged him to get back into the sport.
Michael began shooting international in 2013 and made his first Paralympic team in 2016. He has his sights set on the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
